Just a few hours’ drive south of Nairobi, beautiful Amboseli is easily accessible, making this wonderful park a great safari option for those short on time. Known for an intense concentration elephant and hundreds of bird species, you can find plenty of other animals in this beautiful park too such as lion, buffalo and cheetah. Sparse vegetation makes the animals easier to spot and mighty Mount Kilimanjaro serves as an iconic backdrop to your Amboseli experience.
Duration: 2-nights/3-days, starting and ending in Nairobi
Parks & Reserves: Amboseli National Park
Game Drives: One full day plus two half days
Trip Highlights: Mt Kilimanjaro | Elephant | Lion | Buffalo | Over 400 bird species
Your driver/guide will meet you at your hotel at 7.30am where you will be fully briefed on your trip before setting off for the drive south to Amboseli National Park. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the lodge where you’ll be spending the next two nights. That afternoon you’ll enjoy your first Amboseli game drive before returning to your lodge for dinner.
Be sure your camera is charged because after breakfast you’ll be enjoying a full-day of game viewing. Whilst Amboseli is best known for birds, elephants and lions you could also see buffalo, cheetah, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe and hyena. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and, as long as the clouds stay away, you could be finishing the day with a glorious Kilimanjaro sunset.
Some of the best game viewing happens early in the morning when predators are winding down from a night of hunting and prey are starting to relax as the sun comes up. For this reason your last game drive will be before breakfast that you’ll take at your lodge. After checking out you’ll be driven back to Nairobi where your Amboseli expedition concludes.
